7 Reasons to Visit the CPDC

Hi there, it’s us! The Nichols Career and Professional Development Center, or better known as the CPDC. You’ve probably walked past us a hundred times on your way into the Fels Student Center (we’re Room 201, it’s hard to miss), but maybe you haven’t had a reason to stop in. Well, we’re here today to give you 7 reasons why you should come visit us in the CPDC!

1. Get Help with your Resume and Cover Letter

The oh-so-important resume and cover letter. We’ve got you covered! Our CPDC staff are here to help you creating a cover letter and resume that will get you noticed and wow potential employers. Stop in during drop in hours, or make an appointment to see how you can polish up your resume and cover letter.

2. Borrow Professional Clothing

We have the one and only Bison Boutique. Stop in to borrow professional attire for you presentation, speech, job interview, or for any professional need. It’s not only awesome, it’s also completely free to all students.

3. Make Connections

Our experienced staff have made many connections in their career that they can’t wait to share with you! Whether you’re doing an informational interview, looking to break into a field, or are just trying to broaden your network, the CPDC staff can help you connect with the right person.

4. Take Advantage of Resources

We hate to brag, but we have a ton of resources at the CPDC. We have resumes paper and padfolios you can use, a lending library full of books to help you through college, your career, and life, two beautiful interview rooms (that are video and audio call equipped) for all your interview needs, and much, much more. There resources are here just for you, so take advantage of them to get the most out of your time at Nichols. We also have online resources available on UConnect for you to use when we aren’t here.

5. Career Coaching

Planning for your future can be daunting, and sometimes you get a little stuck. That’s okay because career coaching is available in the CPDC. No matter what you’re thinking our staff is ready to listen and guide you in whatever your interests might be.

6. Learn about Events

There are so many great events at Nichols that sometimes it can be hard to keep track of them all. Check out our events calendar for career related events we host, and off-campus events we post with your interests in mind. Stop by the CPDC with questions about events that interest you or might benefit and inform you.

7. Just to Say Hi

We love meeting community members and making new connections. Even if you don’t have a reason to stop by, you can always come by to check it out and say hi!

The CPDC is open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and we host drop in hours every day! Monday, Wednesday, and Friday come by between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or Tuesday and Thursday come by between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for drop in hours.
