Bison Spotlight – Jessica Soucie

We shine our next Bison Spotlight on Jessica Soucie, a junior from Athol, MA. She is graduating in May 2021 with a major in Accounting and a minor in Management. On The Hill, she is involved in Student Government Association, is a supervisor for the Student Ambassador Program, a member of the Emerging Leaders Program, a Teaching Assistant and Treasurer of the Arts and Culture Club. Outside of school, Jessica enjoys hiking, finding new music to listen to and watching David Dobrik vlogs. A fun fact about Jess is that she is currently watching and able to keep up with four different TV series all at the same time.

Over the summer, Jess worked for Habitat for Humanity as a Financial Assistant. In her role, she assisted the financial director with bookkeeping, logged daily donations, assembled financial statements for monthly board meetings, helped find ways to be more cost-efficient and logged sales from the restore.

Jess’s favorite thing about her internship was “knowing my work was for a good cause. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds affordable housing for people less privileged. This allowed me to work and brainstorm with tons of volunteers in order to establish a better community”. She truly loved this internship and the experience she received from it.

Jess’s advice to others is “Nonpaid internships are just as great and informative as paid internships”. She was able to meet truly caring and generous people who donate their time and effort to less fortunate people. Through this experience, she was able to absorb her co-worker’s knowledge and understand their reasons for being so passionate about this organization. Jess described the experience as “priceless”.

The CPDC Team wants to thank Jess for her time and sharing this priceless experience with us. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
