Bison Spotlight – Brooke Misbach

The next Bison Spotlight will shine on Brooke Misbach. A native of Guilford, CT, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Human Resource Management major and a Psychology minor. She will graduate this upcoming May. Brooke is on the Nichols College Field Hockey team and also works at the Boys and Girls Club of Webster-Dudley. Outside of school and work, she enjoys going to her hometown beach, being with family and friends, and traveling to new places. A fun fact about Brooke is this summer she plans to learn how to sail.

Brooke recently interned with PPI Benefit Solutions, an insurance agency. She was a Billing and Eligibility Intern where she handled the benefits for Human Resources. During this internship, she had many different roles. Those roles include processing 834 forms and new hires using Benefits Solver and Auto Enroll. She made alterations to client’s terminations, compensation, addresses, and insurance coverage. She adjusted client’s medical insurance for age reduction and modified COBRA reconciliations and pending EOI reports. Lastly, she handled reliance forms for electronic deposits using the program MDI Billing and Administration.

Brooke said her favorite thing she did during her internship was, “I enjoyed doing the COBRA reconciliations as well as the electronic deposits as they were a long term project. I was busy every day, all day. I used Excel a substantial amount which has helped me here at school and will help in my future.”

Brooke’s advice to others is, “Put yourself out there and always take on extra work to showcase your work ethic. Take any training that is offered, they are good skills to add to your resume. For me, it resulted in a job offer for after graduation.”

She really enjoyed her time interning for PPI Benefit Solutions. Brooke said, “Overall, I had a great experience. I learned a lot, and I am excited to apply what I learned in my professional career.

The CPDC is very proud of Brooke and wants to thank her for taking the time to share her experience with us. We wish you the best of luck with your future career and to enjoy your last semester here on The Hill!
