Bison Spotlight – Maggie Noelk

Our next Bison Spotlight shifts to Maggie Noelk. Maggie is from Georgetown, MA and will be graduating in May 2020 with a degree in Marketing. On The Hill, Maggie is very involved. She is the captain of the Field Hockey team, the President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, a member of the Marketing Club, a 1st-year Professional Development Seminar Teaching Assistant and holds a work-study position in the Career and Professional Development Center. Outside of a busy schedule, one of Maggie’s favorite things to do is to travel. A fun fact about Maggie is she studied abroad during Spring 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic and traveled to 2 continents, 11 countries and 18 cities in less than 4 months!

Over winter break, Maggie completed an internship with Virtual, Inc. working as an Operations Intern. In this role, Maggie monitored weekly timesheets, assisted with monthly billing, used platforms such as Tenrox and Wrike to assist with requests, performed Ad-hoc reporting, Amex daily downloads/conversions and data entry as well as analytics. A normal day for Maggie in the office typically included importing and updating time budgets into Tenrox and coding expenses in Excel.

When we asked Maggie what her favorite thing about the internship was, she responded: “I loved the opportunity to work for a company that values hard work, teamwork, different workshops, and offered unlimited iced coffee”. One piece of advice Maggie gave is, “when you are learning something new, it is very important to take notes”. In addition, Maggie mentioned the value of the operations side of a business, how it is a vital aspect of the company and should never be looked at lightly.

The CPDC team wants to thank Maggie for taking the time to share your experience with us. We wish you continued success in your future and a wonderful semester!
