Bison Spotlight – Patrick Hesseltine

The next Bison Spotlight moves toward Patrick Hesseltine. He is from Gilford, New Hampshire, and a member of the Class of 2020. He is pursuing his degree in Sport Management. On-campus, he is the captain of the Nichols College Men’s Golf Team. During his time on the Golf Team, he has been recognized as a Commonwealth Coast Conference Champion, Rookie of the Year, a two-time First-Team All-Conference award winner, a Second-Team All-Conference award winner, and a two-time All-New England Team award winner. When he isn’t busy getting acknowledged for his success in golf here on The Hill, he loves hanging out with his friends and family on his boat on Lake Winnipesaukee. He also loves playing golf and hockey.  A fun fact about Patrick is he has an older brother named Ryan who played lacrosse at Saint Anselm and has a yellow lab named Pete.

This past summer he interned at Pheasant Ridge Country Club, as a Pro Shop Assistant. In this role, Patrick was in charge of handling tee times on the phone and ensuring there was a steady flow on the golf course. A normal day for Patrick consisted of making sure there were enough golf carts for customers, checking people into the computer, and notifying them when they were able to tee off. Patrick was also in charge of making sure the clubhouse was always in top-notch shape for customers.

Patrick said, “My favorite thing to do while completing this internship was being able to do a variety of different things around the course. I was able to experience different parts of the operations of golf, which I previously had no idea about.”

When we asked Patrick what his advice to others was, “To try new things that are out of your comfort zone. If you are able to open up and take a step outside of your comfort zone, you might just find an area that you will fall in love with. Make sure your desired area of work is what interests you for when you get out of college and to always ask questions.”

Patrick recently accepted a job for post-graduation as an Assistant Golf Professional at a private golf course called Laconia Country Club located in Laconia, New Hampshire. In this position, he will be handling tee times and tournaments at the course. Patrick will make sure outside operations are ready for customers that come to the course to play. He will also be running camps for kids who want to learn more about golf and teaching private lessons to those who want to improve their golf skills.

The CPDC team is very proud of Patrick and all of his accomplishments he has earned while on The Hill. We wish him the best of luck with his future career and want to thank him for taking the time to share his story with us.
