Nichols CPDC to introduce new Employers in Residence program

The Nichols College Career and Professional Development Center is set to introduce a new program for students called the Employer in Residence program. Employers will be brought directly to campus to interact and network with students. This program is the newest career networking opportunity for Nichols College students, being introduced in the Fall 2025 semester.

Beth Gionfriddo, the Associate Director of the Nichols College Career and Professional Development Center, added important context to what this program is all about. According to Beth, when a recruiter comes to campus as a part of this program, the day will consist of class visits, 10–15-minute informational interviews, as well as a Recruiter Connect Q & A with students. An important note that Beth added about these events is that students don’t necessarily have to be interested in working at the attending organization. They could come and ask general questions about how to make resumes stand out, how to enhance certain skills, and overall general career advice questions.

The program is designed to help students learn about career paths, industries, and opportunities, according to Beth. Students will sign up for specific times when employers are scheduled to be on campus, to secure their spot to connect with the recruiters. The program, which was announced to students via an email announcement and on Engage, is designed to be a casual networking opportunity.

The Employer in Residence Program gives students the chance to meet recruiters and learn what they look for in candidates, gain insights into the employers’ career opportunities, ask questions, and build professional connections. Although the recruiters coming to campus will have open internship and job opportunities, “you don’t have to be applying for the internship, you could just want to learn more about the industry,” Beth noted.

The first event of this new program is Thursday, October 2nd, when representatives from the Worcester Railers will be on campus campus. The schedule for the day includes one-on-one informational interviews in CPDC, followed by a recruiter connect group session from 11:15a.m. in Bazzies, and wrapped up by lunch with the Railers reps in Lombard Dining Hall. “We’re going to attempt to host 1-2 Employer in Residence events each month,” Beth explained about the events for the program, so there will be plenty of opportunities for students to hear from different employers. “We want this to be worthwhile for the students, and for the employer as well.”
