Financial Planning Associate
We are looking for a motivated MBA or grad student to join our growing financial planning and wealth management team based on the Peninsula. This is a two-year program with the opportunity to transition into a full-time Advisor role. This transition is self-paced and dependent on progress toward completing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, in addition to excellent performance in the role.
The Financial Planning Associate will contribute to the firm through financial planning work: writing summaries and plans, crafting investment proposals, designing insurance strategies, and contributing to client meetings. As knowledge and experience grow, duties will move towards an Advisor’s: strategizing on business development and leading client meetings. Successful associates will have the opportunity to transition to Lead Advisors. The candidate is expected to become investment and insurance licensed (passing FINRA’s Series 7, 63 and SIE exams as well as the Life and Health Insurance exams) prior to joining the firm or within 12 months of employment (expenses will be covered).
Job Duties:
- Synthesize client goals, values, and circumstances to create thoughtful, personalized planning recommendations
- Participate in client meetings with Advisors to take notes and ownership of communicating follow up to the planning team
- Write recommendations, model financial projections, and produce integrated financial plans for Advisor review
- Collaborate with the underwriting and investment operations team for onboarding new clients
- As expertise grows, lead follow up or introductory meetings for less complex clients to assess a potential fit for the firm’s practice
- Demonstrate knowledge and confidence in all aspects of financial planning and be able to easily converse with prospects on how we can help them achieve their goals
- Attend in person client and networking events for prospecting and relationship building purposes and outbound referral activity
- Develop centers of influence and contribute to lead generation and marketing programs as needed
