Job Description
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8 hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as may be occasionally mandated.
2. Obtain and satisfactorily complete annual (or biannual as applicable) re-certifications in: CPR (Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation; Dr. Armstrong restraint techniques; Fit testing for Tuberculosis Respirator Masks; Hazard Communication Program; Annual Fire Suppression and Hazard Recognition Training; Annual Self Defense and Management of Violent Situations Training; Annual Training and physical completion for the Emergency Response Team; and other training as may be determined by the Supervisor of Public Safety.
3. Participates in the Hospital emergency room programs, including, but not limited to Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Red, Code Orange and Code Yellow
4. Ability to effectively deal with a wide range of public safety issues handling a multitude of variables in changing situations.
5. Ability to interpret and understand written and oral instructions.
6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions that may be furnished by way of written document, oral command or diagram.
7. Ability to cooperate with law enforcement agencies consistent with the Hospital’s legal obligation to protect the rights and privileges of its patients in accordance with Federal and State Laws.

1. Three years related experience and/or training in public safety.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
