Bison Spotlight – Tyler Kenney

The next Bison Spotlight is a native of Chelmsford, MA, Tyler Kenney. He is a Sport Management major who finds himself constantly busy here on The Hill. He is a member of the Track and Field Team, Student Alumni Society, Emerging Leaders Program and Retention Council, a NEXT Peer Mentor, and in the Sport Management Club and the Honors Program. When he has free time he enjoys spending time outside with his friends, staying active and relaxing with either music or a movie. A fun fact about Tyler is when he was younger, he visited six countries in nineteen days.

This past summer he completed an internship with KBK Sports as a Marketing Intern. KBK Sports is a sports marketing company that works with clients to focus on fundraising events with sports memorabilia. During Tyler’s role, he completed the marketing and sales for major events held throughout the summer. He handled the behind the scenes tasks of each auction. For example, Tyler was responsible for producing the auction sheets required for each event. He also explored different companies for pre and post-movie advertisements for Chunky’s Cinemas. Tyler’s favorite thing he did during his internship was the experience with hands-on jobs. This allowed him to directly get out into the field and gain experience.

When asked how his experience went he said, “It was overall just great experiential learning. There were so many different items that I was tasked with that I believe has now made myself stronger in the marketing field. I felt challenged at all times and I believe that it brought the best out of me.”

After reflecting on his experience with KBK Sports, Tyler gave some advice to others. He said, “Be open to anything. Having an open mind and a good work ethic is key to making it in any industry.”

Thank you, Tyler for taking the time to share your experience with us. We wish you the best of luck with the rest of your senior year and with your future career!
